Sylvania favorite since Charlie Nyitray opened the shop’s doors in 1984. Charlie’s is known for their incredible burgers, curly fries, and their signature homemade ice cream. This is a one-stop shop if you’re looking for a meal and the perfect dessert to top it off!
2. Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream and Yogurt
Just like George Frideric Handel was a master of composing music,
Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream and Yogurt is a master of creating ice cream. Handel’s creates their fresh, smooth and creamy ice cream on site every day, vowing to never skimp on piling on the toppings. With two locations in Toledo — and
all over the country — this has been a popular destination for exceptional ice cream since 1945.
3. Jacky’s Depot

Jacky’s Depot was originally founded in 1986 by Jacky and Marty Pauken in the old Inter-Urban Railroad Station in historic uptown
Maumee. It has been a Northwest Ohio staple ever since, serving homemade, gourmet ice cream with over 50 unique flavors. Jacky’s also serves Fresh Pops, which are gourmet ice pops made with fresh fruit and organic cane sugar, in addition to flurries, shakes, slushes, sundaes, and more! There’s something to satisfy each person in your party at Jacky’s.
4. Lickity Split
Step back in time to your favorite ‘50s ice cream parlor with a sweet treat from
Lickity Split. This is a summer favorite in the community, as nearby residents make this quaint shop a necessary stop on their afternoon walk. They have indoor seating available during scorching days, but many like to enjoy the sun with their cone, cup, or sundae on their outdoor seating area!
5. Mr. G’s Barn

Mr. G’s Barn serves some of the best soft serve ice cream in town, operating out of an actual barn. While the quality of their ice cream is high, all of their ice cream is low-fat with extremely low price points. They also serve incredible chili dogs and chicken sandwiches!
6. Netty’s
With four
locations in Toledo and one in Holland,
Netty’s is a well-loved Northwest Ohio tradition, serving ice cream and chili dogs to the community since 1978. Order one of their famous chili dogs and your ice cream of choice, and escape the sun on the shaded outdoor picnic table area. This seasonal business is only open between March and October, so make sure you stop by while there’s still time!

8. Rachel’s Handmade Ice Cream
